Temp 29 deg (F) and dropping -- lots of wind. Going to be a "hard freeze" for 20+ hours.
Remember, I live in what is supposed to be a "semi-tropical" area. Fortunately we got a good rain this morning -- things do better with wet roots. This wonderful weather is supposed to last about 5 days with possibility of snow later in the week.

UPDATE: Temp was 19 when we woke up -- bird bath is frozen BUT... at least it isn't covered in snow. Gracie slept late -- she wasn't interested in getting up. I have the fireplace going -- will worry about the gas bills later! Sr. Adult luncheon at church and then work this afternoon.

Update2: Balmy -- only 25 this morning. Water running (not dripping) from a drain we share with neighbor. Not us! Praise God. Unfortunately, they have something broken -- probably their sprinkler system. Snow in forcast today. We'll see. State is having rolling blackouts to conserve elect.

Daughter in Abq writes that NM is running out of natural gas for heating -- several places are now without gas. The National Guard is setting up shelters where people can go to stay warm.
Interesting times.

Update3: Well, our big snow event didn't happen. No snow. Ice was very bad on all the major roadways, because they are elevated, but snow stayed away. Since most everyone drives their kids to school, or they go in buses, and the roads were dangerous the school officials say they made the right decision to close the schools. Three day weekend but was/is too cold to do much.
Interesting information coming out of this...
City of Chicago has 750 trucks to clear streets with. Dallas, Tx. is 50% larger than Chicago and only has 60 trucks to clear snow from streets. Houston has NO trucks to clear streets. That is why we shut down -- no way to get rid of the ice until the sun came out. The streets were treated with de-icer but it wasn't too successful. 27 deg now. We've had an enjoyable day.

Last update: Temp 69 degrees!! Church was great this morning -- Tailgate party/chili cook-off after church -- fund raiser for youth activities. Lots of fun -- great fellowship. Several people joined church -- lots of visitors. Lovely sunshine -- Gracie loves it!
To those of you who are still buried in snow/ice -- we are sorry for your condition. Keep the faith! Spring will come.

We are in the middle of an ice storm here with freezing rain and wind. I will try and stick my head out the door tomorrow to get photos. Your daughter made you a beautiful crocheted afghan. Keep warm.
