Give- Away
Gene Black (http://artbygene.blogspot.com is having a give-away featuring fat quarters. He has a darling fat quarter shown that looks a bit like me when I'm shopping. Drop by his blog to admire his new "baby" and enter his give-away. We never have too many fat quarters! (Thanks to Pat (http://alittleofthisandalittleofpat.blogspot.com for telling me about his give-away!)

I know you've told me before but what is a fat quarter? I should know, I probably have four on myself!!
a quarter of a yard of average size material is 9 x 44 inches. That is a long narrow piece that doesn't lend itself to much. So, they take 1/2 yard -- 18 x 44 inches and cut it in half so that each piece is 18 x 22 inches. One half yard cut this way makes two fat quarters. So, a fat quarter is a 1/4 yard piece of material 18 x 22 inches in size.
There are patterns that are specifically designed to use fat quarters instead of larger pieces. The fabric stores sell the fat quarters in a wide variety of colors and pattersn.
Ah ha! I remember now. Thanks.
