Testing Done

I have spend three days at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and have been cleared for surgery.  On October 1 the surgery will be done to remove the tumor from my tongue.  If it is shallow then they will remove it, sew me up, and send me home.  If it is deeper then they will also remove my lymph nodes from my neck and then schedule me for radiation.  Radiation in the mouth is truly a life changing event and I earnestly pray that I will not have to have that.

What a treat!!

This is a picture of the cake Sweetie ordered for my birthday.  Since I quilt the cake maker (a friend from church) used fondant to create a "quilt" draped over the cake.  I don't know if you can tell but there are designs on  many of the pieces much like a quilting design would be.  It is really unique!

A New Journey

I haven't been very active on my blog for a while.  This past year I have encountered some health problems and have been dealing with them -- one at a time.  Sept 6 I learned that I have a malignancy on my tongue, diagnosed by surgery that occurred on Aug 23.  Sept 18 I begin my journey of treatment/healing at M D Anderson Cancer Treatment Hospital.  I don't know exactly what will happen but I may not get back on my blog for a while.  Then again, I may be more active because I'm restricted in my movements.  Only time will tell.

If you pray, I ask that you keep me in your prayers.

Take care and leave a message if you wish.  I enjoy reading what people write.

Boyz and Their Toyz

Recently our church sponsered the annual Men's Cake Bake-off.  In addition to the cakes this year there was a car show/collection show-and-tell included in the activities.  I thought I'd share some pictures with you.  At first it was just supposed to be for men but some women also brought collections to share.  It was fun -- eating cake and ice cream and looking at all the exhibits.

!OK, will stop here and do another entry because I want these in this order.  Bottom car is our friend, Bob's, car.  The top two pictures --- remember those drive-in days?

Hello

Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated! I have been busy running around looking for the long leisurely days of retirement.  Can't find them anywhere!

We have been having rain, rain, rain.  I am not complaining -- I learned early-on that I won't melt!  Still, while my yard is just ponding on one side now (the rest has drained off) north of us there are people water skiing down their neighborhood streets!  Several creeks have come out of their banks and people/animals are having to evacuate. Feast or famine.

I did manage to get some sewing done so I thought I'l send a picture of the baby quilt that was made for my friend's new granddaughter.

Because the new parents were married in Holland, Michigan, I used the pinwheel block to represent "windmills."  I also used some tulips in the quilting pattern.  There is one tulip barely visable just above the yellow windmill, mid-right hand side.

Have been wondering what all you guys are doing -- anyone having fun?
