My Dad went back to the hospital on Saturday -- gasping for air. They admitted him and after the respiratory group came and gave him increased oxygen and a breathing treatment, he settled down a little. The malfunctioning heart valve was acting up again, as it will continue to do. The hospital recommended hospice care and today the papers were signed. He will be going home later this afternoon -- a hospital bed is already in place, a larger oxygen machine, bedside potty, etc., are there waiting for him. I know my Mom will be happy to have the hospice people available to help her with his care and to answer questions. It is hard for her to know what to do and since none of us are medically trained, we don't always know the answers.
My niece is staying there with my Mom and then my oldest daughter may be able to go for a few days. My youngest daughter is having surgery on Friday morning and I am to be her caregiver for a the first days after, so I hope I don't have to go back to Austin for a while. But, if I do, I will. We will manage somehow.
Life is hard sometimes but the gift and privilege of prayer helps tremendously. Sweetie is out of town but I slept like a baby last night. I know the Lord in in command!

It IS hard when medical musts take over your life. But we do get through it somehow. I loved your post about the lady who started making quilts after her vision faded. That was so inspirational. We can always do SOMETHING, can't we!
Hospice staff are like angels.......I am glad they will be helping with your dad's care at home.
