Well, Praise be! OGS showed up at 8am to help with yard work!! My, my, my. I was surprised.
First I fed him breakfast (Apple Jacks cereal) and then we went out and started our work. He took three good sized branches off of the crepe myrtles in the back, and cut down all the baby trees that had invaded the flower beds. He didn't work too fast but we got a good bit accomplished and I could see improvement. We only lasted 2 hours before it got too hot. He said he will come back again tomorrow! Glory! Perhaps we can cut down the tree branches that are hanging over the back fence, and I'd like to take out the wild (courtesy of a bird "dropping" by) lantana that is tall and gawky and just plain ugly. That should take a couple of hours. I have that much money on hand. If he works a third day I'll have to go to the bank.
I had an interesting e-mail/question from DiahRothman asking about the difference between peppers and capsicum. Hummmm, I confess I didn't have a clue. Wikipedia came to the rescue and I learned a bunch!
Baically, Capsicum is a broad name that includes several different cultivars (plants) which fall under the name peppers and chilies. The most interesting part was that the same plants had so many different names in different countries. (Like Zuchinni and Corgettes -- same plant, different name) For example, in Australia capsicum annuum is strictly what we North Americans call bell peppers. In other places that term can refer to different types of peppers and chilies.
OK, readers, do you have capsicum in your country? Tell us what it looks like and how you use it.

I asked Wendy what it was and she answered Peppers straight away!
Clever Wendy! I thought the word referred to the substance that made chilies hot (or not)but, of course, that was wrong. Learned something this week!
Hi Anita, here in the Netherlands capsicum is called paprika while chili is called pepertje which means pepper or chilipepper. I have seen paprika (the name) in many countries in Europe.
