Unevenly Yoked Baby Quilt

Yesterday I finished the laundry and since my laundry is upstairs, and my sewing room is upstairs, I got to work on the new baby quilt at the same time. It is going together but I do have one small problem. The fabric I chose to connect the bright 9-patch blocks, is a lighter weight and it doesn't want to behave. Even with starch, it is flimsy and wants to stretch and get out of shape. While trying to join it to the other, heavier blocks, I was reminded of the scripture about being unevenly yoked. I think my fabrics are unevenly yoked. They have a hard time working together to follow the path I've set for them. I debated the possibility of purchasing a different fabric but decided to continue with what is already here and paid for. In the future, however, I plan to pay closer attention to the weights of all the fabics I try to join together.

I'm sure our Lord feels, many times, like I felt yesterday. He has a plan for us but we don't always follow the path He has chosen We are unevenly yoked, perhaps not in our choice of life mates, as we usually think of the term meaning, but in our choices of activities. We are not evenly yoked with HIM. We find ourselves straying off the path He means us to follow. I picture a beautiful team of oxen, a perfectly matched couple, where one (or both) decides to go off and sample some of those beautiful yellow flowers instead of following the plowing rows. What a mess that would make. Does this make sense? It has just been playing around in my mind and I decided to share. Feel free to comment.

I was thinking maybe a little interfacing would help? give the thinner fabric a little more body...?

That is possible but I've decided to just plow on the way I have started.

What beautiful quilts you have! I wish I had the patience to work on projects that required perfect corners and seams. Yours are stunning!
