The weekend

What a lovely weekend we are having!
We start our weekends on Friday afternoons, since sweetie has a 1/2 day on Friday. After he arrived home we went to our favorite pizza place and stuffed our faces. Yep, we did! Then we went shopping. A friend's baby shower needed a gift -- of course, I'm making the quilt but it isn't finished so we went the purchase route for this shower, and picked up some small items.
Friday night we met friends at a Christian zazz concert. It was good music. After the concert we all went to Fuddruckers to eat dinner and talk and laugh, etc. A good time was had by all!!
Saturday morning we slept late -- really late for us -- after 8 am! Sure felt good. It was cold when we got up (hadn't turned heat on) so I had some hot chocolate for breakfast. It not only tasted good but I got to hold the warm cup! We did turn the heat on after we got up since we are having a mini-cold front pass through.
I took my gifts off to the shower and Sweetie took the Harley off for a ride.
The shower was great fun! One of the young women in our church made the cake around a Bumble Bee theme. It was just beautiful. (I'll try to get a picture to share with you at a later time.) We played baby-shower games and another woman of like age, and I, won! We knew 8 out of ten nursery rhymes. The young mother-to-be (2nd child) said she thought she skipped the old standard nursery rhymes and went straight to Dr. Seuss! Probably true of the younger women present. The other older woman and I were old enough that we learned all the old rhymes as children and then taught them to our kids. I missed Georgie Porgie and Tom, Tom the Baker's Son in the game. They just didn't come to mind.
Sweetie thought I might get hungry, since I hadn't really eaten breakfast, but there was a lovely brunch at the shower -- three kinds of egg casseroles, three fruit breads, fresh fruit trays, etc.
Trust me, I got plenty to eat! Then there was the absolutely delicious cake to be eaten, as if we weren't already waddling! What a fun time!! There is something about the company of women together that is both exciting and relaxing.
Later Sweetie and I just tended to chores at home, he watched golf on TV, I answered some correspondence, etc. Just enjoying our break from the busy week just past.
Church this morning -- a number of visitors -- some new members -- lots of visiting back and forth before and after services, and a great sermon, (of course.) We are refreshed!
How was your weekend?
